    We will review how the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) came to be, and some of the characteristics that add to its uniqueness. In subsequent course meetings, we will explore: caribou biology with specific consideration of their use of the Refuge, discovery of a migratory moose population, and the recovery of peregrine falcon populations in the Arctic Refuge. 

     

    Instructor Fran Mauer is a retired U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service biologist who worked in ANWR for 21 years.
