Class texts include Stephen Crane’s The Red Badge of Courage (1895), Sarah Orne Jewett’s The Country of Pointed Firs (1896), Kate Chopin’s The Awakening (1899), and Charles Chesnutt’s The Marrow of Tradition (1901).
