    This course will teach you about basic perspective, the relationships of objects to each other, how to energize a drawing by use of light and dark dynamics, how to explore different drawing instruments to achieve various effects, how to best express volume, and how to work with outlines alone. Please Note: This course has required supplies.

    Required:

    - 4b and 6b pencils, single blade pencil sharpener, soft dark charcoal and vine charcoal, several soft erasers, charcoal blenders or Q tips, and a fine tip sharpie pen.

    - Sand paper for cleaning erasers, soft rag, medium filbert brush (soft, pointy tip), black ink, and watercolor brushes (thick and fine).

    - A large drawing pad with thick enough paper to accommodate ink wash without crumpling.

    Delve into the world of acrylics creating works of art of the subject of your choice. Use a photo of an item or location that is of significance to you. Please Note: This course has required supplies.

    Required:

    - Tubes of Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Ochre or Oxide, Naples Yellow, Cadmium Red, Light Alizarin Crimson, Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Chromoxide Green, Hookers Green (deep), Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber and Paynes Gray

    - Brushes - synthetic taklon preferred, 1" bright, 1/2" bright, #4 round sable for details. (Sometimes available in sets for a lower price.)

    - Palette knife with bent blade, 9 x 12 Masterson's covered palette with palette sheets and sponge.

    - Acrylic medium - you can mix matte and gloss or can sometimes find semigloss.

    - Wiping cloth, portable tabletop, stretched canvas or canvas board

    - Photograph to use as reference

    - A discount is available at some art supply stores. Ask an associate and inform them you take an art class at OLLI. Ocean State Job Lot often has some of these supplies at a lower price.
