This course explores the life of Beethoven and his music from the early years through his growing deafness and how it altered his approach to composing and performing. The symphonies, piano sonatas, concertos, choral music and string quartets will all be listened to and explored as to their place in the classical and romantic periods. The course will use videos, lectures and discussions to understand the complexities of his life.
