The UMBC Department of Emergency and Disaster Health Systems (EDHS) Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) Program provides specialized, career-focused education and training designed to meet the demands of professionals working in the field or in the healthcare systems.     Medical Terminology for Clinical & Allied Health: This non-credit course introduces the language of healthcare through the study of medical terminology, including prefixes, suffixes, word roots, and combining forms used to construct medical terms. Participants will develop practical skills in pronunciation, spelling, and interpretation of medical vocabulary, as well as foundational anatomical, pathological, and surgical terminology related to the body’s systems. Emphasis is placed on building communication skills necessary for healthcare, emergency services, administrative support, and other health-related professions.

    This course is intended for professional development and workforce preparation and does not award academic credit.

    Prerequisite: High school diploma or equivalent.

    Language of Instruction: Instruction is provided in English only.
