ENST 491 Polar Bear Ecology Field Course  

This field course combines extensive opportunities to observe polar bears and other arctic/subarctic wildlife over the course of five days, with four evenings of lectures, slideshows, and guest speakers, exploring polar bear and arctic ecology, climate change, conservation threats and solutions, the history of and current approaches to polar bear management and managing human-bear interaction, environment and natural resource policy, aspects of local indigenous and nonindigenous cultures and photography.

Course meets in Churchill, MB, Canada. Course is available for undergraduate or graduate credit. Course is available for traditional letter grading or Credit/No Credit grading.

Registration for this course is required through a sponsoring agency. See registration contact information below. The sponsoring agency charges a course registration fee.

Students wanting to earn academic credit from The University of Montana must pay an additional $155 credit recording fee. This is a flat fee and not a per credit fee. Information about registering for academic credit will be provided by the sponsoring agency.
