Students in this course will gain a fundamental understanding of the chemistry, biochemistry and microbiology underpinning the production of malted grains, fermentation, and packaging and distribution of brewed products. Students will develop knowledge of the origin and production of different styles of beer, and will be able to apply their knowledge to hobby home brewing and to the production of beer at the commercial scale.
Course meets online and by Zoom. Course is available for non-credit only.
