A Layperson's Introduction to Cyberwarfare - In-Person
Schedule: Tuesday 9/17/2024, 3:00 PM
Virtually every aspect of today's world is dependent upon cyberspace and stories about cyber security appear constantly, yet there is little common understanding of what constitutes warfare in cyberspace and how it fits within an overall framework of law, national security, and military operations. This talk aims to cut through the hype and mystery surrounding security and warfare in cyberspace; clarify the practical, legal, and operational considerations of cyber warfare; and provide a simple framework for understanding the roles of civil, military, and private organizations and how to deal with important security challenges such as disinformation and critical infrastructure protection.

Addressing Wildlife-Vehicle Conflicts in Montana - In-Person
Schedule: Friday 11/15/2024, 3:00 PM
Several decades of credible research in North America have demonstrated the efficacy of wildlife crossing structures (wildlife overpasses, underpasses, and large culverts paired with diversion fences). Bringing these solutions to the ground in rural communities of Montana, however, is often easier said than done. Road ecologists, agencies, non-governmental organizations, and various stakeholders seeking to reduce wildlife-vehicle conflicts are bound to face complex social and political dynamics at the local level, particularly where private landholdings exist adjacent to roadways. The work requires a thoughtful, community-oriented approach. This MOLLI presentation is a reflection from Yellowstone Safe Passages (YSP) Coordinator, Daniel Anderson. YSP is a coalition of organizations, agencies, individuals, and philanthropists on a mission to address and resolve wildlife-vehicle conflicts on US 89 between Livingston and Gardiner, Montana.

Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, First Cowgirl on the Court - R - In-Person
Schedule: Monday 11/4/2024, 3:00 PM
Many, including The New York Times, called her "the most powerful woman in America." But Justice Sandra Day O'Connor thought of it differently, referring to herself more humbly as "the first cowgirl on the U.S. Supreme Court." Both descriptions are accurate. As a pragmatist and moderate, O'Connor was the swing vote on some of the most important issues of her time--like abortion, race and sex discrimination, and voting rights. But she did not wield her power as the powerful often do, retaining her sense of humor, remaining disciplined, and displaying humility and confident resoluteness in equal measure.
