Massage & Neuromuscular Therapy Certificate (Application Fee)   

In this 10 month (720 hour) Certificate Program, students will be educated in Professional Massage Therapy; which includes Swedish, event sports, deep tissue, pre & perinatal, chair and geriatrics. They will then transition into our 200 Hour Neuromuscular Therapy Program, which is the only 200 hour Neuromuscular Therapy program offered in the state of Alabama. Neuromuscular Therapy education will prepare the student for in-depth work as a manual practitioner treating clients who suffer from chronic pain, injury, spinal deficiencies, degenerative dysfunction and much more. They will also be introduced to many other modalities including, but not limited to, sports massage, general population massage, geriatric massage, oncology therapy, palliative care, infant massage and much more. Our goal is to create a diverse community of therapists who have the skill and knowledge to work in any field they desire. (To obtain certificates in the modalities they are introduced, the student will need to further their education after licensing is completed.)

In these educational hours, the student will receive course specific curriculum to include; anatomy, pathology, kinesiology, business, State Testing Preparation and hands on practical work. Upon completion, the student will receive a 720 Hour Dual Certificate for Professional Massage Therapy and Neuromuscular Therapy.

Neuromuscular therapy is a precise, thorough manual examination and manipulation of soft tissues taught in a step-by-step process. Neuromuscular therapy students will use assessments, examinations, critical thinking, advanced anatomical knowledge as well as practical application to help relieve chronic pain and acute injuries. Neuromuscular therapy has been proven successful in surgery preventions in several case studies.

Students taking this course will proceed with a firm knowledge of chronic pain injury, physical assessments, critical thinking skills, in-depth anatomy; to include knowledge of muscular origins insertions and the actions they perform. Students will correlate muscular dysfunction patters with Nerve Plexus entrapments and be able to determine proper therapy protocols related to the entrapment verses impingement syndromes.

Students in this 200 hour program will obtain advanced dictation skills through S.O.A.P. noting as well as medical terminology for dictating with the medical professional teams involved with each patient. Our program is the only accredited 200 hour program in the State of Alabama. This program is designed to train students in an advanced manner for success in the therapeutic manual touch industry.

What are the class days and times? Classes are held Monday – Thursday, 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm and student clinic massage hours will take place on Saturdays from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.

What are the age requirements and prerequisites? Candidates must be 18+ years old and possess a high school transcript showing graduation or GED certificate.

What happens after Course Completion? Upon completing the course and in order to obtain a state license, you must pass a national board exam distributed by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards known as the MBLEx. Where can they work? Licensed Therapists can work for themselves OR for many different clinics. Professional Massage Therapists are hired for a vast array of clinics depending on the area. Common employment for Professional Massage Therapists includes, but is not limited to: Spas, Wellness Centers, Massage Therapy Clinics, OBGYN/GYN Offices, Home Offices and much more. Neuromuscular Therapists are also hired for a vast array of clinic settings, these therapists are hired for their skill set, anatomical knowledge and precise critical thinking. Employment includes, but is not limited to: Rehab Facilities, Chiropractic Offices, Neuromuscular Clinics, Massage Therapy Clinics, Orthopedic Centers, Home Offices, Sports Facilities and much more. What is the tuition cost? The cost of the program is $7,700, which includes education tuition, textbooks, massage table, student liability insurance fee, oil holster and face cradle covers. *All tuition must be paid in full prior to graduation.*
