In the STOP THE BLEED® certification course, you’ll learn three techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out: (1) How to use your hands to apply pressure to a wound; (2) How to pack a wound to control bleeding; (3) How to correctly apply a tourniquet. Through course instruction and practical demonstration, these three techniques will empower you to assist in an emergency and potentially save a life. Stop the Bleed kits and CAT tourniquets will be available for purchase at the completion of the course.

The ICAT de-escalation course, is a training program that provides first responding law enforcement officers and other first responders with the tools, skills, and options they need to successfully and safely defuse a range of critical incidents. Developed by the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), ICAT takes the essential building blocks of critical thinking, crisis intervention, communications, and tactics, and puts them together in an integrated approach to training. ICAT is designed especially for situations involving persons who are unarmed or are armed with weapons other than firearms, and who may be experiencing a mental health or other crisis. This course includes both classroom and scenario based learning components. This course is funded through a cooperative partnership with the US Department of Justice – Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (DOJ-COPS).

This no-cost course is intended to train, encourage, and empower law enforcement personnel to actively intervene when needed to prevent colleagues from committing policy or procedure mistakes or unprofessional, unethical, or criminal conduct. Through facilitated discussions, group activities, and role-play exercises, the course participants will analyze what inhibits officers from intervening, recognize law enforcement-specific barriers to effective intervention, examine duty to intervene legal standards for law enforcement, and identify key benefits of an effective intervention.

This performance-level, virtual instructor-led training will provide participants with an understanding of the mental and behavioral health impacts that pandemics have on the community. The course will look at specific populations (such as health care, first responders, the elderly, and children) and how the impacts on them may differ. The course will also present strategies for planning for and responding to mental and behavioral health impacts from a pandemic to help build resilience. Finally, information on communications and information sharing will be presented regarding the mental and behavioral health impacts from a pandemic.
Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to: • Recognize the mental and behavioral health impacts on a population during a natural disaster or pandemic.
• Identify mitigation strategies to counter mental and behavioral health impacts during a natural or human-made disaster or pandemic.
• Identify resources available to respond to mental and behavioral health impacts on individuals and populations during a pandemic and other disasters.
• Practice coordination and communication to access mental and behavioral health resources.
