Zoning laws determine what kind of structures can be built, whether or not an existing property can be re-purposed, and even whether or not an existing structure can be replaced with something new at all. Understanding zoning is important because it plays an important role in getting the change your community wants, and whether or not you can prevent or modify the change your community doesn't want. This course focuses on the best (and worst!) practices for zoning and rezoning in Alabama including the necessary tools to ensure compliance with the rules of conduct, disclosure, meetings as well as how to adequately inform the public and the media.
