Prepare for the ACT® at University of North Florida Division of Continuing Education! Learn strategies to improve your score through our intense ACT preparation program. All our ACT Prep Class options include expert instruction, a proven format, all required course materials, access to diagnostic exams and online support resources in one convenient, affordable package.

Choose the Format That Works for You!

The University of North Florida Division of Continuing Education’s ACT test-preparation program includes either ACT Blitz classes or the ACT Summer Institute to help you prepare for this important test in a way that works best for your schedule and preferences. Both programs are offered on campus and also live-online, giving you the option to choose the format and schedule that works best for you. Our classroom programs combine the familiar experience of an in-person classroom with convenient online support resources. Live-online classes offer the same great program as the in-person class with the added flexibility of attending class from anywhere or at any time. Our virtual classroom provides you with the opportunity to interact in real-time with our expert instructors and to re-watch the recordings of your class sessions at your convenience for up to 30 days after the course ends. System Requirements: The Live-Online ACT Blitz and ACT Summer Institute are offered online using Adobe Connect, a free browser plug-in. The only requirements are high speed internet access and speakers or headphones.


ACT Blitz

The ACT Blitz is an intensive test prep program that provides you with the tools you need to prepare for and succeed on the ACT®. ACT Blitz classes, offered during the academic year, are strategically scheduled for the weeks leading up to the most popular ACT test dates. Classes are scheduled to allow time to practice new skills between sessions. Our multi-week course format allows abundant opportunities for learning and for interacting with our expert instructors. The ACT Blitz classes are offered on campus and live-online.

The ACT Blitz includes:

  • 16 hours of expert classroom instruction
  • Experienced, expert instructors
  • Official preparation guide including practice tests from ACT
  • Course workbook
  • Thorough presentations and explanations
  • Easy-to-follow study plan
  • Access to online support resources

The ACT Blitz covers:

  • Math Topics
    1. Practice solution techniques for problems containing variables.
    2. Learn efficient approaches to complicated multi-step problems.
    3. Discover tactics for translating difficult word problems into equations.
  • English Topics
    1. Identify correct idiomatic speech in sentence correction problems.
    2. Understand the basic concepts of rhetorical construction.
    3. Learn which grammar errors are most frequently tested.
  • Reading Topics
    1. Understand which part of the passage to read for reading comprehension questions.
    2. Recognize the difference between global and local test items.
    3. Identify passages written from the journalistic and engaged perspectives.
  • Science Reasoning Topics
    1. Identify parameters for test items involving graphs and charts.
    2. Interpolate or extrapolate answers from data given in tables.
    3. Recognize the point of an experiment in research summary items.
  • General Test Taking Topics
    1. Use the process of elimination.

ACT Summer Institute

The ACT Summer Institute is an intensive test prep program that provides you with the tools you need to prepare for and succeed on the ACT®. The condensed four-day format is a convenient way for you to develop essential test-taking tools. You will receive in-depth review of the exam materials, insight into strategies for succeeding on standardized tests, a comprehensive study plan and extended online support.

The ACT Summer Institute includes:

  • 20 hours of expert classroom instruction
  • Experienced, expert instructors
  • Official preparation guide including practice tests from ACT
  • Course workbook
  • Thorough presentations and explanations
  • Easy-to-follow study plan
  • Access to online support resources
  • 4 hours of live-online review leading up to the fall test dates


The ACT Summer Institute covers:

  • Math Topics

Online Review Tools to Help You Stay at Your Peak!

The ACT Summer Institute includes online tools to help you maintain your skills until test day!

Four online review sessions are held in the weeks leading up to the fall ACT test dates. The interactive, one-hour online review sessions allow you to participate and ask questions of our expert test prep instructors. The live-online review sessions are recorded—you can still benefit even if your schedule doesn’t allow live participation. Review sessions will be scheduled between the end of the course and the fall test dates. You need only high-speed internet access and speakers or headphones to participate in the online sessions—no additional software is required.

Weekly online office hours provide a convenient way for you to get individualized help with specific questions or concerns that you may have. Online office hours are free-form meetings open to all participants from the ACT Summer Institutes. Instructors will be available to answer any questions that you might have. The sessions are “drop-in” and are student-directed, so there will not be a planned presentation for each session. Instead, our instructors will answer questions and work through problems in the order that they are received.

In addition, you will have access to an online instructor-monitored question forum and to recordings of an expert instructor explaining and reviewing all the class modules. Access to the online resources will continue until the end of the calendar year, so you will have extended support as you complete your preparation independently.
