Watercolor II

You must be 18 years or older to enroll in this course.

This course is designed for intermediate beginners; some watercolor experience is helpful but no drawing experience is required! You will advance toward more complex compositions, pen & ink enhancements and explore “improv” watercolor works! You will utilize basic watercolor techniques in traditional and nontraditional applications; apply fundamentals of color theory, composition, and experiment with textural techniques.

Learn how to develop and celebrate your own individuality and creative style while you break through your fears and explore new observational views on environments for inspiration. Each weekly session will include an open forum on famous artists and feedback, Q&A, and your completion of one work of art.

Week 1: Introduction and discussion on watercolor materials, mediums, and supplies; techniques and art terms; exercises in watercolor mediums; graphite, enhancements with pen & ink, salt, plastic wraps, string, etc.

Week 2: Abstract painting; learn a new “no decision” method to create beautiful abstracts; explore white space, textures, shapes, washes, splatter

Week 3: Landscape painting; loose compositions

Week 4: Multiple object still life painting; layering, shadowing, composition

Week 5: Improv watercolor painting; no planning watercolor composition
