ED-venture: Disease Vector Education Center and Science Museum - A Place You Should Know

If learning should be fun, how do you teach people about topics like pest control, dengue fever and mosquitoes? The Anastasia Mosquito Control District in St. Augustine’s answer to that question: the new Disease Vector Education Center and Science Museum! Open to the public since March 2024, the museum features mosquitoes and other pesky insects and the diseases they carry. A flight simulator offers video filmed from one of the agency’s mosquito control helicopters. Interactive games teach visitors about diseases. Larger-than-life bugs and hundreds of their real counterparts are pinned up on the walls and ceilings, courtesy of the University of Florida and Florida Department of Agriculture. You tour the facility after an informative presentation about the organization’s mission. Debrief over a box lunch (included in your fee). Venue is fully accessible. Transportation is on your own.
