ED-venture: Explore the Architectural Heritage of Historic Riverside and Avondale

Enjoy a two-hour driving tour through a picturesque community along the majestic St. Johns River. Ranked one of the “Top 10 Great Neighborhoods in America” by the American Planning Association’s Urban Design and Preservation Division, it features exceptional treasures by acclaimed architects. Those include Prairie style and Art Deco examples by Henry J. Klutho (1873 – 1964), Mediterranean and Spanish Colonial Revival designs by Addison Mizner (1972 – 1933) and Mid-Century Modernist works by Taylor (Cinder) Hardwick (1925 – 2014) among others. Your informative tour, led by storyteller extraordinaire Gary Sass of AdLib Luxury Tours, includes the rare opportunity to step inside one of the featured buildings. Rollators and folding wheelchairs are welcome.  Debrief with fellow OLLIs over a Dutch treat lunch at Blue Orchid Thai Cuisine, voted best of its category multiple times by Jacksonville Magazine. The extensive menu offers a wide range of options beginning at $8. Transportation to the Riverside meet up location is on your own.
