Begin at the Ribault Club, an exclusive venue for the smart set beginning in 1928. Then explore an area that has been inhabited for more than 5,000 years. In 1763, the fort that gives the island its name was built to defend southern Georgia when it was a colony. On your 4-mile hike you enjoy a beautiful natural environment where Native peoples feasted, the Spanish established a mission and colonists built a plantation. Revel in the lush woods, sea and views from Point Isabel. Discover one of the tallest dunes on the eastern seaboard, Mount Cornelia, a true Florida hill! Then head to historic Kingsley Plantation, built in the mid-1700s and owned by Zephaniah Kingsley beginning 1817. Expect an easy to moderate hike with some changes in elevation. Debrief over a sack lunch or snack from home. Dessert is provided. Venue is not handicap accessible. Transportation is on your own. Parking is free and plentiful.
