After its first ten seasons, the College Football Playoff is entering an exciting new era. The field of playoff-qualifying teams is expanding from four to twelve: the five highest-ranked FBS conference champions and seven at-large selections. The designated number of participants in this course will join the facilitator in forming a faux CFP selection committee. Using a process like that of the real committee, participants will select and rank a weekly Top 25 from mid-season on, culminating in the final twelve that should be in the playoff for the national championship. The art of selecting and ranking teams can be based on several criteria. The fun is in the process of collecting and analyzing information, assessing the outcomes of regular season and conference championship games, applying the criteria, voting to determine rankings and comparing decisions with those of the real CFP committee.
