In 1912, the Titanic was the largest ship in the world. Sinking on her maiden voyage, this technological wonder collided with an iceberg resulting in the loss of 1,496 souls and was the world’s largest sea disaster to that date. We will begin by focusing on its history, then learn more about RMS Titanic Inc.’s conservation, care of its artifacts and some of the stories uncovered from their discovery. Finally, we will explore the cultural impact of Titanic leading to its 112-year international legacy. A special emphasis will be placed on “TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibitions,” in Las Vegas and Orlando, connecting artifact conservation to public display.
