Do you have an indoor game that you enjoy playing, but never seem to have enough people to play? Do you simply love to play games and socialize? How about learning a new game? Game night gives you that chance. Join us and bring along your favorite game for an evening of fun, food, and socialization. OLLI will provide food and drinks for all who attend. If you do not have a game to bring and simply want to join in the fun, please do so. There will be plenty of options. Game ideas: Scrabble, Monopoly, Risk, Yahtzee, Jenga, Taboo, Pictionary, Apples to Apples, Bunko, Pitch, Gin Rummy, etc.

One of Nebraska’s greatest attractions is the annual arrival and departure of thousands of Sandhill Cranes and other Migratory Birds to replenish their fuel as they graze and roost in and around the fertile fields along the Platte River. Enjoy this phenomenon by going on a day trip that will entail a self-guided tour at the Audubon Visitor’s Center and accompanying trails in Gibbon, followed by a dinner at the Railside Diner. You will then have the opportunity to travel to Wood River and enjoy the guided Footbridge Evening Tour at the Crane Trust Viewing along the north channel of the Platte River before returning to Lincoln. Dress for the weather and be prepared to walk up to a mile between the Footbridge and the trails at the Audubon Center. Tour includes Love’s Travel Shop in Aurora, lain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary, the Railside Grill in Gibbon, and the Footbridge Tour in Wood River.

Last March the Lincoln Journal Star described the restaurant as “like eating in an Afghan home.” Owner Elias Dawary will be on hand to explain the various choices in the buffet-style dining. There will also be a chance to learn about seasonal, easy on the palate specialties and the time-consuming preparation process. After everyone eats, we will have time to visit with Mr. Dawary about his homeland and journey to Lincoln Nebraska.

Register for the performance in the company of fellow OLLI members in a reserved section of the theatre or attend the production at a different time that works with your schedule by purchasing a ticket on your own. The same OLLI discount on ticket prices applies either way you attend.

Enjoy the fun and camaraderie of mini bowling. The rules are the same as traditional bowling, but everything is scaled down. The bowling balls are smaller, about the size of a grapefruit, weigh about 2 ½ pounds and have no holes; the lanes are about half the distance, about one foot off the ground. Half the size, twice the fun! No prior bowling experience or knowledge needed.

A French soirée! The program opens with Lili Boulanger’s “D’un Soir Triste” (Of a Sad Evening) and is followed by internationally acclaimed pianist Mark Markham performing Ravel’s “Piano Concerto for the Left Hand.” After intermission, Markham joins LSO again to perform Cécile Chaminade’s vivacious “Concertstück for Piano and Orchestra.” The program closes with Debussy’s masterpiece, “La Mer.”
