Delve into two English writers from the late Middle Ages, looking at the conditions for writing faced by Chaucer at the end of the 14th century and Malory in the 15th. Both writers were immensely popular and wrote works which were among the first books printed in England by William Caxton. Learn about the writing of and paying for manuscripts, the changing pronunciation of English, writing as a profession, the politics of writing, and what we don't or can't know about medieval literary practice.
Meets for 2 sessions on Friday, March 24 and 31 at 10 a.m. Join for one or both sessions.
