In 1849, members of a 49er party decided to take a short cut to the gold fields in California instead of using the southern route. This is the tale of William Lewis Manly and John Rogers, two superheroes of their time. Why were they heroes? What made them so different from the average emigrant on the trail? This is a little bit of lost history that is quite exciting.
