Lectures and Mini-Series
Come as we tour Tandem Chocolates in Reno and enjoy learning about all things chocolate. We will hear about the history and origins as well as experience a chocolatier's demonstration of how these exquisite confections are created. Guests will have the opportunity to create their own delicacies under the guidance of a Master Chocolatier. The $10 per-person fee covers all materials including samples and edibles to cleanse the palate during tastings. Be aware there may be prolonged standing so comfortable shoes are a must.

What’s a Woodchuck and what do they really do (it’s not all about chucking wood…)
Welcome to our own Nevada Woodchucks where art in wood comes to life. The non-profit organization is dedicated to teaching safe basic fundamental woodworking skills like carving, lathe work, scroll saw, digital creations (CNC laser and router) and small furniture making through Significant Interest Groups (SIGs). Wooden toys and other artistic wooden items are created. The two main focuses are:

Laura Jackson, music director of the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra, will give us an exciting preview of the Phil's 2023-2024 season, as well as the other special community events they are planning for this year. As always, we expect her to bring a musical guest or two to complete the afternoon.

Join OLLI for an overnight excursion to Ely, Nevada, for the Northern Nevada Railway tour. This will be a drive-yourself, overnight tour and includes a train ride on a steam locomotive, tour of the maintenance shop, museum privileges, and a catered prime rib buffet dinner at the Cellblock Steakhouse on Friday night. Lodging at the Jailhouse Casino has been reserved and will be paid on your own. We have 10 rooms reserved and we strongly encourage folks to share rooms if possible. There will be an annular eclipse on the morning of October 14, which we will be able to view from the railroad museum.

Come and join other OLLI members in creating a candle wreath for your holiday celebration! Each participant will be provided with a work mat, a pre-cut circular pattern for the base, pinecones and acorns, plus other natural materials (all provided by the instructor). This workshop is limited to 12 OLLI members.
SUPPLIES PROVIDED: There will be an individual workstation for each participant. All the natural materials and a pre-cut wreath pattern will be provided. The instructor will provide several examples of completed wreaths. Click Here for Pre-registration Instructions.

ASSISTANCE: The instructor(s) will demonstrate various ways in which to adhere pinecones, etc. onto the wreath and will assist participants throughout the workshop.

For Exhibitors: OLLI Crafters! Sell or just show off your hand-made wares at our Fall Craft Fair on Friday, November 3 from 11:30 am to 3 pm at our Moana campus. Exhibitors must be present for the entire time. If selling items, exhibitors are responsible for sales tax on items sold. Tables are limited and will be assigned in order of pre-registration entry. Calling OLLI bakers! Join the Events Committee in providing and packaging homemade holiday cookies or candies for door prizes at our hOLLIday Open House. Please bring AT LEAST four dozen homemade cookies or candies to the exchange and arrive at Moana by 12:30 p.m. Any extra cookies will be divided among the participants and can be taken home with you. Please be on time as we be will boxing and wrapping the cookies.
