History at the Movies: John Wayne’s The Alamo with Dr. Andrew Torget

When it premiered in 1960, John Wayne’s The Alamo was the most expensive movie ever produced and instantly became a classic western film. In our “History at the Movies” session, you can join a special screening of The Alamo with Dr. Andrew Torget at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. Before the show, Dr. Torget will talk about the making of the movie, John Wayne’s central role in the production, and what the film says about both the 1836 battle and the Cold War American of the 1950s that produced the film.
