Approximately 40 million Americans live with mild to moderate hearing loss, yet only about 20% will seek hearing-related healthcare. What's more, of this 20%, many will wait nearly a decade before pursuing intervention which can result in greater social isolation and higher disease burden. To open more pathways to hearing healthcare, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the sale of hearing aids over-the-counter in 2022. Hearing aids are now available at more everyday outlets such as Costco, Best Buy, and Walmart as well as at reduced costs. But, how is this information being communicated to the public? Join Dr. Sara Champlin and Sharon Miller as they demonstrate their work in this exciting field.
