In this figure sculpture class, students will create a bust and portrait head from a live model, with a focus on capturing likeness, proportion, and expression. Students will learn the basic anatomy of the head and upper torso, how to build a simple armature, and techniques for creating movement, visual interest, and dynamic poses. The class will guide students through the full sculptural process, including building, refining, firing, glazing, and exploring alternative cold-finishing techniques. Open to all skill levels. Class tuition includes armature, model fee, and one 25lb bag of clay per student; see *CERAMICS NOTE.

Independent Study is designed for students who are self-motivated, willing to push their creative abilities, and wish to create a body of work during the term. - 1077 | One Part Plaster Molds

In this two-part workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of creating simple plaster molds for ceramic. Through hands-on demonstrations and experimentation, students will explore the process of designing and making one-part plaster molds and plaster press molds for hand-building and slip-casting applications. Essential techniques such as preparing forms, building mold containment systems, mixing and pouring plaster, and troubleshooting common issues will be covered. Create your own functional molds and gain an understanding of how mold-making can expand possibilities for repetition, texture, and sculptural variation within a ceramic practice. Open studio following each session is available, and class includes 10lbs of mid-fire clay and 25lbs of plaster; see*CERAMICS NOTE.

Presentations and discussions will cover how to integrate form with function. This class will use high-fire Mammoth Merlin clay and high temperature gas-fired reduction glazes. Prerequisite: Students should have completed at least two introductory to wheelthrowing courses. Class tuition includes one 25lb bag of clay per student; see *CERAMICS NOTE.
