UTSA MBC certification course introduces a unique university fast-track program that teaches students to gain essential skills needed to facilitate all phases of the healthcare medical and insurance revenue cycle process. Online Medical Billing and Coding (MBC) Training is delivered virtually over twenty-three consecutive weeks for a total of 138 hours. The cohort meets with the online instructor two days a week for three hours. Participants will then be required to complete an average of eight hours of homework per week, consisting of video modules, workbook exercises, and coding test banks.
The National Healthcare Association certification exam is proctored in-person at the UTSA Downtown Campus.
Attendance Policy: To receive a Certificate of Completion and sit for the NHA CBCS exam, students must have no more than 3 absences and have 90% of assignments completed.

- MBC training offers financial assistance in payment plans and Sallie Mae loans.
- Full payment is recommended to secure your spot in the workshop.

- Educational Funding much be approved before registration.
Technology Requirements and Support
- Microsoft Word for assignments and Adobe PDF to upload documents.
- Computer with a web camera and speakers/earbuds/headphones. You can use your own personal device (laptop or desktop). Camera must be on during live sessions.
- Internet access. Wired or reliable connection recommended for online exams and assignments.
- Google Chrome is the recommended browser. In case you are having trouble opening or accessing content, clear the cache and try a different browser.
