COURSE DESCRIPTION: Identify and evaluate significant risks to your business and develop strategies to mitigate them by understanding the fundamental concepts of risk management. By exploring different types of risks and studying the latest risk management tools and techniques, you'll learn how to develop and implement a comprehensive risk management program, including how to use data analytics to surface risks and assess results. Course includes theories and methods of risk management, risk methodologies, end-to-end risk assessment (RA); risk management planning (RM); governance, risk management and compliance (GRC), risk reporting; risk intelligence, risk indicators, strategic and operational risk. You’ll conduct RA/RM to address real-world risk management projects, and engage in use case-studies and class scenario review discussions to determine how to apply and implement these concepts and methodologies.
This course includes key terms and process from the PMBOK Section 11 Project Risk Management and is designed to meet the 40 hours project risk management education requirement to apply for the PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)® certification. Course will be taught in a combined online/face to face format requiring both classroom and online participation. Books/Materials TBA.
Upon completion of this course, participant will be able to:
- Evaluate different types of risk facing a business, using risk theory, methodology, and indicators.
- Develop strategies and comprehensive programs to mitigate risks using case studies.
- Demonstrate how risk assessment and management methods may be used to solve real-world risk management challenges.
- Develop and use Integrated Process Teams and Case Study methods to address Risk Management and Cybersecurity challenges.
Who should take this course? Anyone who is interested in or responsible for the identification, evaluation and mitigation of industry and supply chain risk management. This includes those serving as Procurement Supervisors and Managers; Technical and IT Managers, Production Supervisors and Managers; Business and System Analysts.
Will this class prepare me to take the PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)® test? The content and topics covered in this program are taken from the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) Section 11. The PMBOK houses the content from which the Project Management Institute (PMI) draws the questions for the test. However, this is not a test preparation course. This course is designed to teach the practical application of risk management. This course does meet the 40 hour educational requirement to take the PMP-RMP® exam.
Are there other ways to prepare for the PMP-RMP® test? Yes; several other options including books, CD’s, online classes, and test preparation workshops.
