Learn to manage people, to build effective programs, and to maintain a healthy and efficient nonprofit organization. Develop the knowledge, insights and abilities to enter or advance your career in the nonprofit field. Curriculum focuses on nonprofit leadership, financial management and the broader operational aspects of nonprofits.
Structured as a rigorous series of short courses taught by nonprofit practitioners, courses last from two to six weeks each. Evening classes are generally held once per week at the UW Tacoma campus. Total class time for the program is 90 hours.
Courses are designed for those with some experience working or volunteering in a nonprofit organization; however, nonprofit experience is not required to enroll. You will gain knowledge and skills that will enable you to pursue or advance a career in the nonprofit sector in these areas:

Earning the Certificate
Unique to UW Tacoma is the ability to start a certificate with any course in the program - whether it starts Fall Term, Winter Term or Spring Term. You have two years from the start of your first course to complete the certificate program. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, participants earn a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Washington Tacoma and 9.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Participants must meet the minimum standard of 80% for attendance and completion of coursework.
Enrolling in Individual Courses
A limited number of spaces may be available to professionals who do not intend to pursue the certificate.
There is no application requirement for admission to this program. Two years of college and/or two years works experience in the nonprofit sector is recommended.

CFRE International Approved Courses
Completion of the courses above is approved for Continuing Education Points through CFRE International under Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification. Fundraising professionals may enroll in individual classes to upgrade skills and earn recertification points. 2019 courses approved. 2020 Courses will be submitted for approval.

Complete participation is defined as an individual attending an educational session during each time slot in which such a session is offered. Partial participation in this activity qualifies for 1 CFRE Continuing Educational Point per educational session contact hour; partial hours may be counted in increments of .25 points per 15 minutes. Students may request a document from our office showing these hours after quarterly grades are posted.
