Monday and Tuesday - will be held at the Walters State Sevierville Campus in MMH, room 119.
Wednesday - Pigeon Forge Community Center mat room - 170 Community Center Dr. Pigeon Forge.
Thursday - starting at, Walters State Sevierville Campus in MMH, room 119. Then the class will transition to Gatlinburg Sportsman Club, 649 King Branch Rd. Sevierville.
Friday- Pigeon Forge Community Center.

This course is designed to develop departmental firearms instructors responsible for departmental training and P.O.S.T. certification procedures. Topics covered will include but not be limited to: the fundamentals of marksmanship, firearms safety, moving and shooting, and care of weapons. Instructor development is a Prerequisite (Specialized Law Enforcement Only. LIMIT:15)
Location: Sullivan County Sheriff's Office (229 Shipley Ferry Rd., Blountiville, TN)
Equipment List: duty weapon with 3 magazines, holster, magazine pouch, and 600 rounds of pistol ammo, Rifle and 200 rounds of ammo, laptop (if available).

This training will provide officers with the necessary firearms training to instill confidence, proficiency and improve abilities to properly use and safely handle their department issued AR-15 platform patrol rifle. Following this training, officers will be able to:
• Be able to field strip, clean, inspect and lubricate weapon to ensure proper functioning.
• Demonstrate proper stance, proper sight alignment, use of cover and concealment, safe movements, weapon discipline and target identification.
• Be able to recognize malfunctions and properly clear them.
• Demonstrate ability and proficiency to fire Dept. patrol rifle under physical stress.
• Demonstrate proper handling techniques and reloading techniques of their dept. patrol rifle.
• Demonstrate proficiency with their dept. issued patrol rifle
• Demonstrate proficiency in firing at laterally moving targets.
Rifle Skill Builder Class Materials list:
•Rifle – AR–15 types preferred, but any magazine fed, centerfire rifle will work
•Approximately 500 rounds of rifle ammo
•At least 3 30-round magazines for selected rifle
•A workable, tactical type sling for selected rifle
•Duty Handgun
•Approximately 150 rounds of handgun ammo
•At least 3 handgun magazines
•A duty belt, chest rig or armor carrier with magazine pouches for rifle and holster for handgun
•Cleaning kit for rifle
•1 military type ammo can and small sandbag (for zeroing purposes)
•Hat
•Rain gear
•Eye and ear protection
•Knee and elbow pads (if needed)
•Sunscreen
•Hydration carrier or drinks

This class will focus on the tactical application of the police shotgun. Topics covered will include, load selection and patterning, holdovers and proper sight picture, slug and buckshot usage, tactical loading, load changing, different shooting positions, cover shooting, and unique shotgun concerns and applications. ***Requires approximately 50 rounds of birdshot, 100 rounds of buckshot, and 50-75 rounds of slugs. Semi-auto and pump shotguns are acceptable, but must be of the riot gun type.***
