Unlock the world of amateur radio! This course is designed for youth who are interested in obtaining their Technician Class amateur radio license, the entry-level license granted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This is a compressed course of five weeks (2 classes per week) of lectures and demonstrations. Students will be given handouts with additional information to study between classes. The last class will be a review session followed by an official exam session where students, if they pass the exam, receive their amateur radio Technician license.
In the course you will learn:
Operating Practices: Familiarize yourself with essential operating practices, FCC rules and regulations, and amateur radio’s role in emergency communication.
Radio Waves: Learn about the electromagnetic spectrum, frequency bands, wave propagation, and the fundamentals of radio waves.
Radio Technology: Learn about radio architecture, setup, and operation.
Antennas and Feedline: Learn about the basics of antenna theory, setup, and RF safety.
Electricity and Electronics: Amateurs are allowed to build and modify their equipment. Introduction to Direct Current (DC), Alternating Current (AC), and semiconductors.
Requirements:

3. Parents/Guardians will be required to pay the Exam Fee $15.00 in person.
4. If participant/s passes exam, there is a $35.00 FCC fee paid online.
