Machining Algebra and Applied Trigonometry   

This course provides foundational mathematical skills tailored to precision machining and manufacturing operations. Students explore algebraic principles, including equation solving, formulas, ratios, and proportions, with direct applications to machining calculations such as speeds, feeds, tolerances, and material removal rates. Emphasis is placed on applied trigonometry for solving oblique triangles, determining angles in tooling setups, calculating taper dimensions, and interpreting blueprints using sine, cosine, and tangent functions. Through practical exercises, geometric constructions, and computer-aided tools, participants develop proficiency in accurate computations essential for CNC programming, lathe operations, milling, and quality control in a machine shop environment. Prerequisites: Shop Math, Basic arithmetic or equivalent experience.
