Phlebotomy Technician Program   

This 90 hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods.

Books for this hybrid course will be available electronically and the cost is included in the course fee.

Registered students will have the option of doing a 40 hour clinical externship. Additional information including a resume, current immunization records, and more will be required from clinical students. A clinical coordinator will reach out directly to students after the start of the class with more information.The cost to coordinate this optional externship is $100.

Note: Students who complete this program will have the opportunity to pursue the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Phlebotomy Technician Exam or National Workforce Career Association (NWCA) Phlebotomy Technician Exam. Exam fee not included in the course fee.

Important: The Fall 2021 Phlebotomy course will be conducted in a hybrid format including weekly Zoom lectures and work on an online platform. Students will meet in person on the first night of class as well as 9:00am - 3:00pm on the following Saturdays: 10/30, 11/6, 11/20, and the final class on 12/18. All students attending these in-person classes must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. After registering, please email a copy of your vaccination card to bfredette@westfield.ma.edu. For those with documented medical/religious exemptions, please contact the same email.
