Backflow Assembly Certification Course

In 2026, the five-day BAT Certificaiton Course will be offered:

Monthly in Auburn, with the exception of November (no class in November)
Monthly in Spokane between April - November.

Class space is limited and registration fills quickly, so we encourage you to register early for a class.

Waitlist spots are available, but if there is a future open/available class, we suggest you register for the open/available class while you also put yourself on a waitlist for an earlier class (there is no charge to be on a waitlist).

In this five-day course, participants will learn how to: identify types of backflow preventers, components, and functions; inspect backflow prevention assembly installations; test and diagnose simulated problems in all types of approved backflow prevention assemblies; record and report assembly test results. Emphasis is placed on preparing for the Backflow Assembly Testing Exam, but the exam is not included in this class (see explanation below). This class combines classroom instruction with ample hands-on practice in WETRC's BAT Lab.

Meets WA Department of Health Relevancy Criteria for Waterworks Operator Professional Growth for 3.7 CEU.

Meets WA Department of Ecology Criteria for Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators for 3.7 CEU.
