Translating Ancient Hebrew Text

You don't have to speak fluent Hebrew to translate Biblical or other ancient texts. What you need is a basic set of grammar rules plus access to dictionaries and conjugation tables. In this class, you will learn how to read the Aleph-Bet, how Hebrew words are constructed, and how to use freely available websites to help you translate Hebrew texts word by word. Each class will cover one area of Hebrew syntax and then translate small pieces of text together using what we've learned so far. You'll learn the difference between "inside" and "outside" translation and start translating a Hebrew text of your choice, whether from the Bible or from a huge, free selection of other texts.
