YOGA: The Art & Science of Wellbeing    NEW!

For millennia, Yoga has been practiced to help us cope with the challenges and opportunities of being human. Over the past decade, there has been exponential growth in research describing the benefits of practice for our mental, physical and social wellbeing. Participants in this interactive, experiential workshop will explore both the art and the science supporting yoga practices. This workshop is open to all participants regardless of level of experience with yoga practices. A tree is a common metaphor describing the practices of yoga. Its ethics and disciplines serve as the roots and the trunk, while its postures and breath represent the limbs and the leaves of the tree, affording physical and social wellbeing.

Yoga practices directing our senses form the protective bark of the tree, while the stems of the leaves focus and concentrate the energetic essence of the tree into the fruit it is designed to bear. These aspects of yoga practice condition our nervous system to meet life however it is presenting to us, so we may express our full potential. The tree fruits with proper tending through heartful and consistent practice. Moving, breathing and sensing our way into the stillness creates the conditions for insight into the nature of the self, where the juicy sweetness of the fruit cannot be described with words!

Note: Teachers of yoga who complete this course will be eligible to receive 6 continuing education credits through Yoga Alliance.
