There is an urgent need for parents and teachers to be able to adapt and support the changing needs of children during the Covid-19 pandemic. To do this, one must not get caught up in the old ways of thinking and be willing to create peace and harmony in the home and classroom. Children are overwhelmed and suffering from stress and anxiety. The student will learn the basic techniques of meditation through clear, step-by-step instructions. They will experience the importance of the breath/mind connection and the power of the focused mind.
There are also, “do-able” suggestions of how to sit comfortably for meditation, how to still the restless mind, how to take experiences of peace and joy into their daily lives at home and school. They will be led through different phases of meditations so they can systematically and slowly develop their own practice at their own speed according to their age. In this course, one purpose in learning to meditate is to release the emotional blocks and sadness they feel not being able to physically play, attend school, or visit their friends and family during the pandemic. Parents are required to make a phone appointment with the instructor prior to the first class meeting.
