SCIENCE: Rocketry, The Science of Flight (G: 6-8)

Course description:

Young students in Grades 6-8 will learn the parts of a rocket, and its flight profile, as they design, build, and test multiple rockets with a predetermined goal. Using controlled scientific experimentation, students will learn to identify the forces acting on the rocket at different phases of trajectory.

As Newton's laws of motion and forces come to life through experimentation, students will draw their results in free body diagrams, while learning about balanced and unbalanced forces on an object's constant and changing motion. Each student will maintain detailed notes in their laboratory notebooks while on campus, and from our launch site at Cottonwood Middle School.

Cost: $180

Times: 8 classes, 9:00-11:30 am, T/Th, 6/5-6/28
