Animal Rights & Welfare    NEW!

In this class, students will learn about the current debate over animal rights and animal welfare. We will compare and contrast animal natures and human nature. The history of animal agriculture and domestication will be considered, from ancient to modern times. We will discuss how and why we treat wildlife and pets differently from "food animals." This class is intended to inform students of "all sides" of the issues, and will not forcefully push one point of view. The teacher has written several academic books on animal issues for libraries.
