Pursuing Genealogy, Part 1: An Overview of How to Uncover Your Personal Connection to History

During this class you will uncover your personal connection to history by learning how you can search for information about your ancestors, trace your family’s lineage and history, and document relevant events by utilizing online and offline genealogy resources. Part 1 will focus on where to start, where information can be found (online and offline) and what information can be derived from various records (census, military, passenger, naturalization, land, court, etc.). Each class will allow for time for you to work on your family tree. Students will benefit more from this class by having a subscription to and/or experience with at least one of the following: FamilySearch.org (FREE), MyHeritage.com, Ancestry.com or FindMyPast.com.
