Students will be introduced to the joy of gardening, from making compost, to planting seed and beneficial insects. We will create a garden journal, learn to care for earthworms and collect our own seed. The class will conduct experiments to demonstrate actual garden problems. We will use recycled and free sources to demonstrate that anyone with access to water, can easily grow their own food, plants or flowers. From research, to observation, to getting hands in the dirt, students will have a well-rounded learning experience, "rooted" in the science of horticulture and specific to the Verde Valley.
