EDU 455 Teaching Science with NGSS (1 credit)

Ecology Project International’s (EPI’s) Baja Educator Course provides teachers with opportunities to connect students to the phenomena of Baja California Sur’s marine ecosystem. Participants will engage with thought-provoking phenomena; participate in citizen science with a real researcher; use the Claims, Evidence, Reasoning model to create a NGSS-linked lesson and begin a storyline; and learn strategies and tools to inspire their students to observe, question, and problem-solve. Educators will participate in citizen science research, experiential learning, and collaboration with peers, all while exploring best practices, new ideas, and opportunities to enhance science education in the classroom.

Course meets in La Paz, Baja California Sur. This option is for undergraduate credit only. Course is available for Traditional letter grading only. It is the student’s responsibility to verify the transferability of courses to their degree-granting institution and intended major.

Registration and payment for this course is required through Ecology Project International.
