An Aerie semester was made for college-aged, gap year, and early career individuals who want to be emergency medical technicians, wilderness EMTs, fireline EMTs, search and rescue personnel, ski patrollers, expedition medics, and backcountry guides or are considering a career in medicine.
The Semester in Wilderness Medicine program includes the following courses:
- ECP 332 Emergency Medical Technician and Incident Management, 5 undergraduate credits
- PTRM 355 Wilderness Medicine and Risk Management, 5 undergraduate credits
- PTRM 356 Wilderness Rescue and Survival Skills, 5 undergraduate credits
Program meets in various locations (see below). Program is available for traditional letter grading only. It is the student’s responsibility to verify the transferability of courses to their degree-granting institution and intended major.
Registration for this course is required through Aerie Backcountry Medicine, www.aeriemedicine.com or 406.542.9972. The sponsoring agency charges a course registration fee.
Students wanting to earn academic credit from the University of Montana must pay an additional $465 credit recording fee below.
