Camps for ages 9-14   

Begin your rise to the top of the charts with digital music production! Just like today's top artists, you can design your own beats or remix a mashup of your favorite songs to become a digital composer and sound engineer. In this course, students will learn to produce digital music, record sound, make sound effects, and mix their own tracks. No prior music experience is necessary. Student-created soundtracks will be available on a password-protected website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program. 

This camp encourages digital creativity, making, and storytelling. Campers will explore phone photography, digital arts, inventive projects, and creative writing/blogging.
Projects/Activities include:
• Day 1: Basics of photography – learn to take great photos and frame shots. Learn how to edit them on your phone.
• Day 2: Short story writing & poetry – combine imagination with writing skills.
• Day 3: Blogging with video – tell stories digitally and post on the gallery iMacs for display.
• Day 4: Create a final project that is inspired by the week's activity.

This class explores making objects from clay that range from functional vessels and animals to sculptures. Students learn a variety of hand building techniques such as slab, coil and pinch and several methods of surface treatment and glazing. Some projects extend into mixed media. 

In addition to being a fun and engaging activity, working with clay has many benefits for children. It helps to improve fine motor skills, encourages creativity and problem-solving, and promotes a sense of accomplishment and self-expression.

Pack your imagination! Our study abroad students will take campers on an artistic journey across the globe, exploring art traditions, colors, and patterns from different cultures. Projects include:

• Day 1: African tribal masks
• Day 2: Japanese origami & ink drawings
• Day 3: Aboriginal dot painting (inspired by Costa Rican art)
• Day 4: Korean fan painting
• Day 5: Native American dreamcatchers

Discover the joy of digital art as you learn skills that are transferable to a variety of devices. Attention will be given to the creative process as it applies to photography and post-processing. A field trip among beautiful Hudson Gardens will provide wonderful photo opportunities. You will go home with projects and a display board using your photos.
 

Join the Colorado Space Institute’s first Youth Space Exploration Camp! Kids will have the opportunity to learn about the local Colorado space industry and different space careers through industry visits, special guests, activities and more!

Play is a universal language that allows children to explore, test, and imitate their surroundings. Toys become avatars to our imagination.  Utilizing the emerging digital technologies of ACC’s Hive Makerspace such as 3D printing, 3D scanning and laser cutting students will work together to build worlds, games and design characters. Students will come away from the class with an introduction to digital softwares which enable them to fabricate 3-dimensional toys and games to access their imagination. 

Get ready to unleash your inner artist! Each day, campers will dive into hands-on projects using acrylics, watercolors, pastels, and tie-dye. This camp is all about creativity, color, and fun. Projects include:

• Day 1: Abstract splatter & tape-resist painting
• Day 2: Landscape painting
• Day 3: Tie-dye T-shirts (bring a pre-washed white shirt)
• Day 4: Pastel plants & flowers
• Day 5: Watercolor & ink abstracts

Customize your own Minecraft world and mod the classic game in this one-of-a-kind class. Learn scripting and logic statements as you create your first mods. Students will create a wide variety of new elements, gameplay mechanics, and world-generating mods to change the way you play Minecraft. Projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Projects from this class require the Java version of Minecraft. Tablet, phone, and game console versions of Minecraft are not compatible. Returning students can create more advanced projects that build on previous years. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.
