How can I lead well in sports without sacrificing my Christian commitments or my desire to win? What does the Bible really say and teach about competition? How should I approach complex topics in sports like race, mental health, and identity?

If you’ve wrestled with these questions (and more!), you’re not alone. The FSI Online Certificate Program is a non-credit professional development and continuing education program designed to help you process and explore critical issues from an informed Christian perspective. You’ll get to learn and grow alongside a team of experts, experienced educators, and fellow sports-minded Christians. By taking multiple classes, you can also work towards earning a Certificate in Sports Culture and Leadership.

  • FSI: Mental Health in Sports
  • Fee: $250.00

    Developed by an interdisciplinary team with expertise in theology, psychology, and counseling, this course will teach Christians in sports how to think about mental health from a Christian and clinical perspective.

    Course outcomes include:

    • Recognize mental health care as a Christian concern and an essential component of human flourishing
    • Explore the mind-body-spirit connection as it applies to both sports performance and overall human wellbeing
    • Understand stigmas revolving around mental illness within society and the sports world
    • Examine and develop awareness of specific mental illnesses and mental health challenges prevalent in the sports world
    • Learn proven practices and resources specific to mental health in the context of your sport to best care for yourself and others

    The course is eight weeks in length and delivered online through Canvas Catalog. As a non-credit course, there are no academic prerequisites to enroll. Each week will include specially designed and selected readings and learning engagement activities. This course is intended for those interested in sports chaplaincy and those already serving within the field.
