Thanks to The Queen’s Gambit, right now chess is THE HOT TOPIC! This introductory level series (how to play Beth Harmon) will show how you can join the excitement, whether you are looking to learn the game or are just passionate about it as a spectator sport. We’ll cover game fundamentals, including rules of the game, chess notation and how to play online. This level is appropriate for complete beginners and for those who may already know how the pieces move but have limited experience. You’ll also learn how the game can grow your mind to develop skills such as problem solving, abstract thinking, concentration and memory enhancement. It’s never too late to get started and no time like the present!
Please Note: This is an internet-based class that requires a device larger than a smart phone. You should also be comfortable with Zoom (or it is recommended that you take our Zoom Made Simple workshop). In addition, if more than one adult in the household will be participating, each person needs to register separately and have their own device. This course is only open to adults 18 years and older (sorry, no exceptions).
Please be sure to register by the day before the class at the latest. You will receive an invitation email with a link to join the Zoom meeting. Click here for a tutorial on how to join a Zoom meeting.
