Join us for an interactive virtual presentation during which we will explore Ukraine's complex history, decorative folk arts, language, traditions, geography, and regional distinctions - all of which make the Ukrainian people so fiercely protective of their land, culture and independence.
We will also touch on the origins of Kyivan Rus' and the influence of the Scandinavian Vikings on the region. Other topics covered will include the Kozak master horsemen, the wooden vernacular architecture of the Carpathians, ancient folklore, holiday customs, regional national costumes, dance, traditional foods, and even distinctive musical instruments, many of which are unique to Ukraine.
The objective of this presentation is two-fold:
- To provide background and a wider context to the current conflict, and...
- To donate the proceeds to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine and border refugee camps.
The presentation will be moderated. Therefore, questions are welcomed and will be answered throughout the talk.
