We are offering Casino Basics: Blackjack and Poker this fall on Tuesdays, starting 9/22, at 6:30 pm.

 

Are you looking to play this captivating card game that blends strategy, teamwork, and fun? In this introductory course, you will learn basic rules, terminology, scoring, and essential strategies to build your confidence and improve your play. After an overview of the game in the first class, you will put your newfound knowledge to practice with hands-on play. Come meet new people and have a great time.

Building on their knowledge of the game, students will review the Mah Jongg basics and the current card of hands. We will learn more defensive, strategic steps towards winning the game and/or playing against challenging players, as well as quicker decision-making in ways of choosing hands (which is the most challenging and difficult for most players) and betting options.

In this introduction to Mah Jongg, students will learn the basics of this fun and social game. We will discuss the rules and object of the game, learn tiles/symbols and cards of hands (40/50 different combinations), illustrate examples of winning hands and hands-on practice, and systematically break down the multi-layered components of the game into easily understood segments.

In this introductory class, we will start from the very beginning and the underlying object of the game. Students will develop trick-taking skills and learn how having a trump suit changes your strategy. The course ends with an introduction to the auction. No prior experience with bridge or even cards is necessary.

In this introduction to Mah Jongg, students will learn the basics of this fun and social game. We will discuss the rules and object of the game, learn tiles/symbols and cards of hands (40/50 different combinations), illustrate examples of winning hands and hands-on practice, and systematically break down the multi-layered components of the game into easily understood segments.

Whether you’re brand new to chess or looking to sharpen your skills, this class is for you. Beginners will learn the fundamentals of the game, while all students will explore key tactics for winning material and delivering checkmate. Players will also deepen their understanding of opening principles and the basics of positional play. The instructor will meet each student at their level and provide individualized challenges to help everyone improve.

Interested in World of Warcraft but unsure where to start? This live online course is designed for those who are new to the game or returning after time away. Using the current game expansion as a guide, students will learn how to set up the game, create a character and class that fits their playstyle, understand core gameplay systems, and navigate the modern World of Warcraft experience with confidence.

Topics include leveling, user interface setup, add-ons, communication tools such as Discord, basic group content, online gaming culture, and practical strategies and resources to help you progress efficiently without feeling overwhelmed. The course will also introduce students to the social and collaborative aspects of the game, including optional participation in a beginner-friendly in-game guild community.

No prior experience is required. Students may use existing accounts or begin using a free trial account during the class.

Offering a blend of instruction and practice, participants can refine their strategies, learn advanced techniques, and receive real-time feedback from an experienced instructor. Students should have taken Beginner Canasta or have equivalent experience.

Take the next step in your bridge journey by mastering the fundamentals of bidding. We’ll start to look at bidding concepts, including hand evaluation, choosing a suit, and deciding how high to bid. We’ll also look at partner’s responding bids and basic sequences.
