QBHA Program Description
Behavioral health workers and other professionals who may encounter individuals experiencing escalated behavioral health situations can expand their skills and become a Qualified Behavioral Health Assistant (QBHA). The QBHA Bootcamp is a self-paced, non-credit training designed with oversight from the Colorado Behavioral Health Administration (BHA). Competency demonstration is required from four of the courses included in the QBHA microcredential. Bootcamp participants who achieve a score of at least 80% on each competency assessment will become QBHAs.
Participants increase their knowledge and elevate their employability as a behavioral health professional.
Successful completers receive the QBHA badge and are eligible to serve as part of a Medicaid reimbursed care team as outlined by the Colorado BHA. Under supervision, these individuals will be able to provide elements of wellness promotion, education, community needs assessment, screening, referral, crisis management, case management, orientation to services, and individual and group interventions. Bootcamp completion may be leveraged as Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) at community colleges in Colorado.
