Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam all released classic records in the same few weeks as Metallica, Guns ‘n Roses, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, joining them as platinum-selling acts and putting grunge into a permanent place in the pop culture and fabric of the era.
