Jacksonian America (Thursdays, 1:30pm-3:30pm ET)    NEW!

This is a history of the United States from 1812-1848, which many historians have called “The Age of Jackson." Topics covered will include the War of 1812; the rise of political populism; the importance of Florida and Texas to American expansion; Indian removal; the rise of reform efforts such as anti-slavery. The class will end with the election of 1844 and the Mexican War, which set the stage for a larger, more vicious war 12 years later in 1861. Class size limit: 150.
